Within WP2 of the WARRIOR project, Ukrainian partners conducted a focus group with young people addressing fake news about the war, COVID-19, and public safety. Participants described intense emotional reactions, including hope, fear, joy, and disappointment, often before verification. Fake news was believed because it related to freedom, belonging, safety, and peace. Official sources, trusted people, and personal investigation helped uncover the truth. Afterward, young participants reported increased skepticism and caution toward similar information.
